Very Short Bio of Gabriel Zachmann in 200 Words

Dr. G. Zachmann is a full professor with the computer science department at University of Bremen, Germany. He is the head of the visual computing group, focussing mostly on computer graphics and virtual reality. Prior to that, he was a professor for 7 years at Technical University of Clausthal, Germany, where he established a research group for computer graphics. Earlier, he had established a young researcher's group at Bonn University, Germany, working on novel interaction methods for virtual environments.

Dr. Zachmann received his PhD (Dr.-Ing.) in 2000 from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, During is years as a doctoral student, he worked as a research scientist in the department of virtual reality of the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics in Darmstadt. His PhD thesis is on "Virtual Reality in Assembly Simulation - Collision Detection, Simulation Algorithms, and Interaction Techniques".

He has received his master's degree (Dipl.-Inform.) in computer science from TU Darmstadt. He performed the work on his master's thesis during a research stay at National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, USA. His bachelor's degree (Vordiplom) is from Univesity of Karlsruhe (KIT).
